“We loved Bhutan. It is a very special little country; the people are kind, their Buddhist beliefs make them patient and happy and it is amazing to be in country where everyone seems so well adjusted. The mountains and valleys are stunning, the culture is so rich and so evident in the prayer flags, chortens, temples and the stories. The Punaka Dzong was magnificent and we visited a small nunnery nearby, which was quiet and pretty.We had an amazing time, and MrArun and MrSonam, our driver, were very professional and kind. So all in all, we had a memorable trip that went smoothly. MrArun was knowledgeable, he knew the history and culture as well as the birds and flowers. We saw langurs and deer and many lovely birds. I must say that your choices for our guide and driver were excellent! Gembo was a phenomenal driver! During my 25+ years with WHO and UNICEF, I have been on over a hundred missions where I was assigned a driver. In all honesty, Gembo was the best driver I have ever had. Rich and I marveled at how safe a driver he was, and were thankful for his tremendous professionalism, sincere kindness and unfailing good humor. I arrived in Bhutan on Monday 8th May, it was the beginning of an adventure I had been dreaming about for years. Etho Metho Tours and Treks was recommended to me by Dr Mike Townsend. I met him just before the COVID epidemic through a mutual friend, he told me he had worked in Bhutan and that yes I could visit. I will be forever grateful to Ms Sonam Gaga for her support and patience during the planning of this trip, without her help this adventure wouldn’t have happened. She was so understanding during the struggle I had sending the payment for this visit from my bank in England, she also made sure I had all the paper work I needed to enter Bhutan and advised on medication, weather conditions and codes of conduct. We had a 11/10 trip and as experienced global travellers we do not give such high marks lightly. All the organisation was smooth and with impeccable service all along our journey through Bhutan. The trek was spectacular and the trek team looked after us impeccably. Our chef was amazing; even serving chips for breakfast before our longest walk on the trek. I cannot thank you enough for putting together our wonderful holiday in Bhutan. It exceeded all our expectations and was truly magical. Bhutan is a very special place and you enabled us to really experience that. I wanted to let you know that our guide Tashi and driver Sherab were excellent. They went over and above in making this a holiday of a lifetime for us. For example, on Oliver’s birthday we went to the nunnery and Tashi organised for the nuns to share in a birthday celebration for Oliver in the temple (giving the first slice of cake to the gods of course) and they made 3 butter lamps specially for Oliver to light (they don’t blow out candles on birthdays) and he was presented with a special white silk scarf from the chief nun. Our visit to Bhutan was an exciting experience. Both my wife and I loved it. I would like to highlight the performance of the guide, Arun, a friendly and knowledgeable person who has undoubtably enhanced our experience. The Tenzinling Tent hotel is our preferred one. I am writing an email to you to let you know how impressed my family and I were with Leki during our recent visit to Bhutan. We were with him for four days and we had an amazing time. Leki is personable, knowledgeable, kind, and flexible. He even took the time to take our family to watch an archery competition and then he and our driver engaged in a friendly archery competition with my family at our hotel. That afternoon remains a highlight for us. Our trip was fantastic and Leki was an integral part of our enjoyment.
