Thinley was a great driver and also came along on some treks which was so nice! Chencho our guide was kind, soft spoken and very informative. We enjoyed him emmensely. They were a great team. We asked if he could schedule an astrologer for us and the 3 of us had a session with him! That was terrific and extremely memorable. The cooking lesson was also fun and I am a master at chilly cheese now…although I am sure you know how easy that is! Archery was hysterical, out in the open with the horses in back, thank goodness no one grazed them! The hikes we did in Bhutan were perfect for us and challenging as the altitude wasn’t easy but we did it and loved both of the longer hikes we did and made it to Tigers Nest. The hike up to the monastery was really special as no one was around it was so peaceful. I do miss the quiet of this very special country now that I am back in NY. We had a great chat with the GNH representative. The mandala making was both spiritual and an explosive art form, I had tears in my eyes when we destroyed it. The giant Buddha is a miracle to see. Picnic lunches perfection! The food was such better than we expected as we do like spice and Indian and Chinese, so we had no issues at all. Bhutan is such a special place and we hope to be able to return one day to other areas. The kindness and cleanliness is so welcoming and peaceful, I think unlike any other place in the world. Sometimes I felt as if I was in a pretend world. What was most unexpected is how different Bhutan is from Nepal, completely opposite, and we had no idea! We enjoyed our time and learned so much, it was a wonderful experience. I feel very fortunate we had the opportunity to take this adventure.
