What Others Have To Say About Us!
Etho Metho is a big, top-notch company that flawlessly arranged every aspect of our six days of city “cultural tours” and 13 days of mountain trekking up to 16,500 feet for our group of four friends from the States.
We dealt directly (for 3 years…pandemic delays) with Karma and her great colleagues in the Etho Metho office; never any problems, always informative, never a delay. Our 19-day guide, Lhakpa, was unflappable (especially during a medical issue requiring visits to three hospitals), well-informed, and an empathetic and effective leader. Namgyal and his staff in our kitchen tent kept us totally-healthy (nobody had any digestive issues)…oh, and the food was wonderfully good and plentiful Day 1 to Day 13. Sonam (great English, like so many Bhutanese) and his hard-working horse-wrangling staff were equally superb.
Kudos to Etho-Metho, even with us adding a three-day high-altitude valley and 14,300 foot camp (Phue Dong in the Masa Gang valley NE of Laya) to the normal Paro Valley (Shana) to Jomolhari (24,035 ft.) vicinity to Lingshui (fascinating artisan reconstruction work (earthquake damage) to one of the several 1600s Dzongs (monasteries – fortresses) that we visited) to Chebasa to Laya to Gasa trek. Adding two home-stays (Laya, Gasa) was a brilliant itinerary adjustment by Etho Metho a couple days after we arrived (Oct. 28) especially since Laya had ~5 inches of snow ~ Oct. 25.
With a climate change-induced warmer Bay of Bengal causing the monsoon to extend later into Sept. & Oct., our dates were cold but ideal: the 12.5 out of 13 brilliant, sunny days on trek were the only facet for which we could not (we don’t think!) thank Etho Metho!
